Reblogging for artistic reference.

Yes. Artistic reference is why I am reblogging this.

This is why I hate it when people draw the likes of Wonder Woman or Power Girl or She-Hulk without making them muscular because ‘that’s not feminine’. Because clearly, you know, it bloody well is.

Totally reblogging for the artistic reference. Definitely.

Shout out to this incredible color resource site! They give you anything and everything you could ever want to know about a color from color schemes to RGB percentage makeup. There’s even a color blindness simulator for help with using visible/accessible colors for all viewers.

So keep this site in mind if you’re a graphic designer, interior designer, artist, color enthusiast, or whatever! It’s quite awesome.

Hi... I love ur blog :3 I have some problems to draw and I wish u can help me, can u? Please :3. What els, a few months I try draw a anthropomorphic dragon, but it's so difficult make the legs. I want u can help me with that, how can I do dragons foots on front and back view? And how sees when they flying?

helpfulharrie:

Well! Dragons are generally reptiles, so looking at other reptiles is a good idea.

There’s lots of different kinds of reptilian feet, you could have something mitteny like a crocodile

or some pudgy toes like a gecko

image

image

or some very long toes like a lizard

It’s honestly depends on what kinda dragon you’re making!

To anthromorphise something though, you need to be familiar with both the animal’s and human anatomy, because what you’re drawing is a mixture between the two.

There is a lot of freedom to be had with drawing dragons, anthro or otherwise. Your typical western dragon looks something like a cross between a lizard and a cat, anatomy-wise

image
And you can find plenty of tutorials on this style of dragon, KyriaDori’s is very nice.

But! There’s nothing stopping you basing your beast on a crocodile for example
image

So don’t feel locked in on that one style of dragon. Have a look at and study various different reptiles and see what traits you think best suit your character.

But anyway, lets actually get onto drawing those feet. Dragon feet, particularly the hind feet, I find are often quite similar to human feet. Especially so if you’re making an anthro!

I think that the construction that N3MOS1S uses for human feet works very well if you elongate things a little bit:

Breaking things down into blocks and spheres will allow you to draw them from any angle you wish!

You can adjust the shapes to suit what kinda foot you want, like longer toes for a more lizardy foot

image

or more mass for a croc like foot

image

As for the legs, I again suggest reading KiaDori’s tutorial, as it’ll help you understand what kinda legs dragons have.

Then you just need to blend it with human anatomy until you reach a medium you’re happy with

image

13thblackcat wrote a couple tutorials on combining ungulate anatomy with human anatomy if you need some help with that process!

But again I’d like to stress that you don’t have to restrict yourself to one specific way of drawing dragons!!

as for the flying question, I’d go have a look at my bat wing tutorial.
